Disallowed or Prohibited Items Policy
This policy regulates multiple items, products and services that are not allowed to be listed on shoppingtown.info, or that are subject to restrictions when listing.
Make sure your listing follows this policy. If it doesn't, it may be removed, and you may be subject to a range of other actions, including restrictions of your buying and selling privileges and suspension of your account. We will also notify the relevant authorities of any contravention of this policy that amounts to criminal conduct.
Police and related items
On shoppingtown.info we do not allow the listing of police-related or law enforcement items, including items issued by any public entity of any government or official equipment from law enforcement agencies in Australia, New Zealand, the United States, and other countries.
Please note this policy does not cover novelty or souvenir items, such as costumes and badges that are clearly unofficial.
Use of Defence Emblems
It is an offence under the Defence Act 1903 for a person to make, supply or offer to supply a defence emblem without the written authority of the Minister of Defence or a person as authorised in writing by the minister. Any listing of a Defence emblems must clearly show this written authority. Please note that the unauthorised copying of a Defence emblem may also constitute a breach of the Commonwealth of Australia's copyright over a particular work.
Current Conflicts
Any military item, uniform (replica or genuine) or embroidered patch that is currently being used by any nation's defence force in current activity or conflict will not be permitted to be listed on Shoppingtown.info This prohibition further extends to any item that may be classified as a war trophy.
Drugs and Drug Paraphernalia
Buyers and sellers are not allowed to list any narcotics, steroids, other controlled substances or paraphernalia associated with drug use on shoppingtown.info or affiliated sites. This prohibition extends to all items designed or intended for use in manufacturing, concealing or using drugs or other controlled substances. Prescription drugs and products containing tobacco are prohibited, along with products marketed or claiming to provide a ?legal high?
Additional information
Controlled substances include any substance listed in Schedules 2 & 3 of the Commonwealth Crimes (Traffic in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances) Act 1990.
Human Remains
We don't allow humans, the human body, or any human body parts or products to be listed on shoppingtown.info, with the exception of items containing human scalp hair, such as lockets or wigs
Used Cosmetics
Buyers on shoppingtown.info should be confident that they are buying clean and healthy cosmetics on the site. Due to inherent health and safety risks, shoppingtown.info does not generally allow the sale of used cosmetics, but certain items may be allowed as set out below.
Allowed items:
- New cosmetics, brushes and applicators
- Homemade cosmetics that comply with government regulations
- Lotions, perfumes, body washes or shampoos that don?t come into contact with the body directly or where the applicator comes into contact with the body.
Items that are not allowed:
- Used cosmetics, makeup sponges, brushes or applicators
- Opened but unused cosmetics
- Sample cosmetics

Hazardous restricted items
For health and safety reasons, most hazardous materials (such as fire extinguishers, refrigerants, radioactive materials and toxic substances) can't be listed on shoppingtown.info or its affiliated sites
Certain dangerous or hazardous goods may be legally transported, subject to proper labelling, packaging and transport conditions. These items may be listed and sold on shoppingtown.info, as long as the listing
- Clearly describes the hazardous nature of the product
- Sets out the transport requirements that must be complied with and specifies how these requirements will be met

Please note that despite the above, the following items remain prohibited and may not be listed or sold on shoppingtown.info
Chemicals
Asbestos and items containing asbestos such as collectable gas masks, azocolourants or azo dyes, benzene, chloroform products, cyanide products, iodine products, jewellery or wearable products that contain nickel, lead-based paints and paint removers, items containing mercury, any carcinogenic, mutagenic or repro-toxic substance (category 1 or 2) in substances or mixtures sold to the general public, aluminium powder, ammonium nitrate, calcium ammonium nitrate, calcium nitrate, 2.4Dinitrophenol (DNP), hydrogen peroxide at or above 15% concentration, magnesium nitrate hexahydrate, magnesium powder, nitric acid, nitro-methane, potassium chlorate, potassium nitrate, potassium perchlorate, sodium chlorate, sodium nitrate, sodium perchlorate, sulphuric acid.
Fireworks
Fireworks and combustible items are heavily regulated and generally not sold to the public. As such shoppingtown.info does not allow the sale of fireworks or similar combustible items, with the exception of books related to fireworks, or device that have no combustible materials. All fireworks contain explosive substances and are therefore classified as dangerous goods by postal carriers.
Please note the following items are prohibited: Black powder, caps for toy guns, combustible materials, explosive fuses, all fireworks, flares (both projectile and road flares), flash paper, petrol, red phosphorous, thermite, used oil (such as cooking oil or motor oil), fire extinguishers and fire grenades
Refrigerants
The manufacture, import, export and end use of ozone depleting substances (ODSs) and synthetic greenhouse gases (SGGs), and products containing these substances, is subject to national legislation and regulations in Australia. Many of these products may not be lawfully sold in Australia without a permit, even to maintain existing equipment that the products have been used in.

The following items may be sold on shoppingtown.info
- Refrigerants contained within a household appliance or a vehicle
- Refrigerants (excluding chlorofluorocarbons and hydrochlorofluorocarbons refrigerants) may be listed, provided that the user has the necessary permit or other authorisation to sell the refrigerant, and this information is included clearly in the listing
Users who sell, import or export refrigerants must meet the licence and reporting requiremsnt of the Australian Department of the Environment and Energy and must hold a Refrigerant Trading Authorisation.
Chlorofluorocarbons and hydrochlorofluorocarbons refrigerants, including Freon, are expressly prohibited
Pesticides and poisons
All agricultural chemical products offered for sale in Australia must have an APVMA/NRA registration number. Listings must comply with the following
- The listing must show the item's expiration or "use by" date, and the item must be delivered before this date.
- Items must be supplied in their sealed, original packaging and the item must have been stored safely according to storage directions on the item's packaging
- Listings must include the APVMA/NRA registration number.
- Authorised agricultural products may be listed, provided sellers have appropriate registration and permit documentation
The sale or listing of unregistered agricultural products or products that have been disallowed by the Australian Pesticides and Veterinary Medicines Authority is not allowed on the site.
Radioactive materials
To ensure user safety and comply with legislation, shoppingtown.info does not allow the sale or listing or radiation sources. The sale of items with a trace amount of radioactive material is allowed ? this includes watches, clocks and other timekeeping or navigational devices, unrefined ores and smoke detectors.
Other items
We do not allow the sale or listing of Items that pose a health or safety hazard as specified by government agencies, and will remove listings at the request of government agencies.
Gaming machines Policy
Gaming machines (also known as poker, pokie or slot machines) are regulated items and a licence is required for the possession, operation, sale or relocation of these gaming machines. As such shoppingtown.info does not allow the listing of gaming machines, or gaming machine parts, on the site.
Toy slot machines and pinball machines are allowed as long as there is no pay-out capability, whether by cash or non-cash equivalents such as tokens.

Personal relationships Policy
You are not allowed to list for sale any services that are illegal, sexual in nature, or that violate our User Agreement. This includes offers for personal relationships, any offers or suggestions for sexual contact (including dating and escort services) personal advice and coaching services.
Website traffic-driving services, search placement services and banner ad services are also prohibited from being listed on shoppingtown.info
Encouraging Illegal Activity Policy
Any items that may encourage, promote, facilitate and instruct people to engage in illegal activity, or that provide advice on how to engage in illegal activity, are strictly prohibited from being listed
Profanity Policy
To ensure a safe and pleasant shopping experience here on shoppingtown.info, we don't allow the use of hateful, offensive, profane, racist or vulgar language on the website.
Please note the following exceptions:
- Officially released products or media with a brand name or title that includes a profane word. The profanity must form part of the original brand name or title of the item as provided by the supplier or manufacturer
- Novelty items with profanity, although the profanity must be replaced with asterisks
Firearms and Weapons Policy
Due to strict government regulations, and in the interest of promoting a safe a society, most weapons can?t be sold on the site, even if the sale of the weapon is legal
On shoppingtown.info we do not allow the listing or sale of the items set out below
- Any item or product that can be used to shoot or discharge a projectile
- Firearms and antique firearms, including gun parts, parts for assault weapons, converters, suppressors, silencers and kits used to create a firearm
- Replicas or imitation firearms
- Ammunition
- Any weapons issued by or items used by the military, such as ordnance, grenades, landmines and related items even if the items have been made 'unserviceable' or has been 'demilitarised' or 'de-milled'
- Military items listed by the International Traffic in Arms Regulations, including information, technical data and manuals listed in the regulations
- Explosives, missiles or rocket launchers
- Flamethrowers
- Hand weapons, including nunchaku, batons, knuckle-dusters or other weapons defined as offensive under applicable laws. Training manuals for the use of these weapons are however allowed
- Whips entirely or partly comprised of any metal, or that consist of any number of knotted lashes (including whips known as "cat-o'-nine-tails")
- Any flail, mace or any article that consists of a club or staff fitted with a flanged or spiked head
- Any push dagger or any other device that consists of a single-edged or multi-edged blade or spike that has a handle fitted transversely to the blade or spike and allows the blade or spike to be supported by the palm of the hand
- Any trench knife or any other device that consists of a single-edged or multi-edged blade or spike that is fitted with a handle made of any hard substance that can be fitted over the knuckles of the hand of the user.
- Any flick knife (or other similar device) that has a blade which opens automatically by gravity or centrifugal force or by any pressure applied to a button, spring or device in or attached to the handle of the knife.
- A ballistic knife that propels a knife-like blade of any material by any means other than an explosive.
- A knife that has a blade cover which withdraws into its handle by gravity or centrifugal force or through pressure being applied to a button, spring or device attached to or forming part of the knife.
- A butterfly knife or "balisong" or any other device that consists of a single-edged or multiedged blade or spike that fits within 2 handles attached to the blade or spike by transverse pivot pins and is capable of being opened by gravity or centrifugal force.
- A star knife or any other device that consists of a number of angular points, blades or spikes disposed outwardly about a central axis point and that are designed to spin around the central axis point in flight when thrown at a target.
- Belt buckle knives, lipstick case knives, air gauge knives, handwriting pen knives.
- A walking stick or cane that contains a sword or any other single-edged or multi-edged blade or spike.
- Any article or device that disguises and conceals within it, a single-edged or multi-edged blade or spike of any length or of any material.

Encouraging Infringement Policy
Users are not allowed to create listings, provide information or otherwise engage in activities on shoppingtown.info that enable, encourage or instruct others to infringe copyrights, trademarks or other rights.
Prohibited activities include:
- Creating backups of original software and selling or reselling the original
- Listing or selling information, in any format, that describes or explains how to remove copy protection, install modification chips or otherwise circumvent intellectual property rights protection
- Listing or selling products, software or devices whose purpose is to circumvent copyright protections, including game enhancers, boot discs or video game converters
- Encouraging the sale of counterfeit, copied, pirated or bootleg items in any form

Replicas, counterfeit items and unauthorised copies policy
Shoppingtown.info doesn't allow unauthorised replicas, counterfeit items, or unauthorised copies to be listed on the site. Unauthorised copies may include things that are bootlegged, illegally duplicated, or pirated. These kinds of things may infringe on someone's copyright or trademark.
The below list of items provides examples of replicas, counterfeit items and unauthorised copies that are not allowed on shoppingtown.info:
- Backup copies of software, including archived copies; or archival copies of software
- Bootleg recordings
- Counterfeits, fakes or replicas of brand name items
- Counterfeit electronics (like mobile phones) or software
- Counterfeit replacement parts or consumables that weren't made by the manufacturer that the items are labelled with
- Digital copy only discs or codes (originally sold as part of a Blu-ray or DVD combo package)
- Digital media, including but not limited to CDs, DVDs, VCDs, CD-ROMs, Blu-ray and/or flash drives, that contains multiple images of celebrities or models
- Media (such as CDs, DVDs, flash drives or any other recordable media) containing scanned pages from a book, magazine, manual or other copyrighted materials that you didn't create
- Compilations of e-books or audio books on media (such as CDs, DVDs, flash drives or any other recordable media)
- Unauthorised or pirated copies of media, software, video games etc

At shoppingtown.info we do not allow the sale of vouchers. This is in an effort to avoid disputes and legal liability due to copyright infringement, expiration, locality, originality or possible recall of vouchers.
