Selling Art Policy
To ensure all art sold on shoppingtown.info is sold lawfully and without infringing any intellectual property rights, all sellers of art must adhere to this policy when listing items for sale.
Important: For indigenous art, whether you are buying or selling, please review and ensure you comply with the Indigenous Art Code.
For art listings the following guidelines are supplements, and must be adhere to in addition to the standard selling and listing policies of shoppingtown.info.
Art allowed for sale
- Original artwork, including the seller?s original works
- Artwork the seller is authorised to sell or resell
Restricted or regulated items
- Reproductions of a work may only be sold if it does not infringe any applicable laws, copyrights or trademarks. For more information, refer to our Intellectual Property rights Policy.
- Replica paintings must clearly indicate that they are a reproduction, both in the title and the description of the listing
- The artist's name may only be included in the title of the listing when the work was created by the artist, or if the work is an exact replica. You may not include the artist?s name in any listing for an item created ?in the style of? an artist
- Alterations, restoration and repairs to the work was must clearly disclosed in the description of the listing
Art items not allowed
- Knowingly selling, exhibiting, trading, producing or advertising any unauthorised or illegal copy or reproduction of a work of art
- Disclaiming knowledge of, or responsibility for, the authenticity or legality of an item that you describe as genuine, or listing an item as genuine if you cannot provide acceptable evidence of its authenticity
- Knowingly participating in any way in the advertisement or sale of any work of art using any deceptive practices, including, but not limited to, false or misleading claims of the item's scarcity, value, provenance, condition or investment potential.
